U.S. capital secures water resources in Argentine Patagonia

Reports from the Observatorio de la Tierra indicate that U.S. capital is concentrating in the Neuquén province of Argentina, specifically around critical water resources in the Patagonia region. This concentration is linked to the potential installation of data centers for Artificial Intelligence.

In Neuquén, U.S. entities hold approximately 214,600 hectares, representing 42.6% of the province's foreign-owned land. This ownership is concentrated in mountainous departments with high hydrological and environmental value, such as Lácar, Collón Curá, Los Lagos, and Ñorquín. In the Lácar department, 30% of the land is under U.S. ownership.

The situation has drawn attention to a Memorandum of Understanding between the U.S. Southern Command and the Dam Safety Regulatory Body (ORSEP). Consequently, the Mercosur Parliament is expected to request detailed reports from the Milei administration regarding the specifics of the agreement between the US Army Corps of Engineers and ORSEP.
