US cattle market outlook remains bullish despite July price correction
Senior livestock economist Dr. Derrell Peel of Oklahoma State University said the sharp July correction in cattle futures was driven by market technicals rather than a shift in supply‑demand fundamentals. He noted the market has been in a three‑year bull run, that corrections are normal, and that inventory remains historically tight, with the 2026 calf crop forecast down and beef production expected to decline through 2026.
The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will host a three‑day Beef Cattle Short Course Aug. 3‑5 in Bryan‑College Station, featuring more than 50 hours of training on fertility, efficiency and pest management, including a symposium on New World screwworm. Conference coordinator Jason Cleere highlighted that record cattle prices make every additional pound of calf weight valuable for producers.
