United States communities plan events for 9/11 25th anniversary

Various communities across the United States are organizing events to mark the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. These commemorations focus on honoring victims, first responders, and the national spirit of unity.

In Brooklyn, Green-Wood Cemetery will host a remembrance evening overlooking the Tribute in Light memorial. The cemetery is the final resting place for more than 100 individuals who died in the attacks or from related illnesses. In Federal Way, Washington, a ceremony led by local police and fire chiefs will honor the bravery of first responders.

In Oxford, Mississippi, observances include a community blood drive and a memorial stair climb at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, where participants will climb 2,071 steps to represent the height of the World Trade Center towers. Meanwhile, in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, local high school students will participate in a city remembrance ceremony to provide a historical perspective on the tragedy.
