US Congress moves to block F110 engine sale for Turkey's KAAN fighter

The U.S. House of Representatives introduced a joint‑reject resolution aimed at stopping the sale of General Electric F110‑GE‑129E/F engines to Turkey for its indigenous KAAN combat aircraft. The measure, championed by Democratic Rep. Dina Titus, would prohibit not only the delivery of the engines but also related integration, assembly, certification, testing, technical data, and support services.

The resolution initiates a 15‑day review under the Arms Export Control Act and must be approved by both the House and the Senate and signed by the president, or overridden if vetoed. While it signals strong congressional scrutiny, analysts note that the bill’s chances of becoming law are low given limited bipartisan opposition and the broader strategic context of the F‑35 and KAAN programs.
