US Congressman requests sanctions against four Serbian businessmen

Republican US Congressman Joe Wilson has formally requested that Secretary of State Marco Rubio impose sanctions on four Serbian businessmen. The request, sent on October 14, seeks to ban the individuals from entering the United States and using the American financial system.

The individuals identified are Ivan Bošnjak and Stojan Vujko of Millennium Team, Davor Macura of Alta Banka, and Željko Mitrović, owner of Pink TV. In his capacity as co-chair of the Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe, Wilson described the men as associates of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić who allegedly use public resources for personal enrichment.

The letter further alleges that these individuals support a corrupt regime, work to undermine US interests in the region, and are actively involved in manipulating the upcoming October 25 elections. Millennium Team and Alta Banka have denied these allegations, calling them untrue, while Željko Mitrović has not provided a specific response. None of the mentioned companies are currently under international sanctions, though Mitrović was previously sanctioned during the Slobodan Milošević era.
