US Congress probes Trump associates' involvement in Republika Srpska

US Congresswoman Dina Titus has issued a formal letter to President Donald Trump seeking clarification on the activities of his political associates, James Blair and Chris LaCivita, in Republika Srpska. The inquiry follows the October 4 elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina, focusing on whether these individuals provided election-related advice that could have influenced the outcome in a pro-Russian direction.

Reports indicate that companies linked to these associates received over $4 million from the Republika Srpska government since the beginning of 2025. Investigations by Detektor and media outlets like the New York Times suggest these associates were present at political rallies for the SNSD party, raising questions about whether their work was strictly for the government or also for a specific political party, which could violate Bosnian election financing laws.

The letter also questions the extent of knowledge within the Trump administration, specifically mentioning Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, regarding these engagements and potential lobbying efforts. This follows the removal of sanctions against Milorad Dodik and his associates by the US Treasury Department on October 29, 2025.
