U.S. counties prepare for November general elections

Election preparations are underway in several U.S. jurisdictions ahead of the November 3 general election. In Garfield County, Colorado, mail-in ballots for registered voters will begin shipping on October 6, with ballot drop boxes becoming available on October 7. Early voting centers in Glenwood Springs and Rifle are scheduled to open on October 19.

In San Diego County, ballots are expected to reach registered voters starting the week of October 5. Voters can return completed ballots via mail, at official drop boxes available from October 4, or in person at voting centers. In-person voting begins October 5 at the Registrar of Voters office, with additional voting centers opening in stages through late October.

Separately, the Roaring Fork Valley in Colorado has been awarded $48,550 in state community grants to mitigate human-bear conflicts. The funds, announced by Governor Jared Polis and Colorado Parks and Wildlife, will support initiatives such as improving waste storage systems with automatic-closing containers.
