US courts impose life and 25‑to‑life sentences in infant‑related murder cases
A New York man, Isaac Argro, was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison for the 2022 shooting death of his ex‑girlfriend Azsia Johnson as she pushed their 3‑month‑old baby in a Manhattan stroller. Prosecutors said Argro waited on the street and shot Johnson point‑blank; the infant was unharmed.
In Mississippi, Gabriel Girner received a life‑without‑parole sentence after pleading guilty to the 2023 murder of his 3‑month‑old daughter Ivana Rose Girner. Police found the infant with blunt‑force trauma to the head, neck, and chest before she was pronounced dead at a Memphis hospital. The court ordered Girner to serve the sentence without the possibility of release.
