El Chapo writes new letters to US court asking President Sheinbaum to arrange his transfer to Mexico

Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, the former leader of the Sinaloa cartel, has filed another handwritten letter with the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York. The missive, dated 2 June and received on 10 June, repeats his request that Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum intervene to allow his repatriation to Mexico to serve his life sentence.

In the letter, Guzmán alleges violations of his extradition rights and claims he was denied a fair trial. He also asks that prison‑visitation rules be relaxed and that his detention conditions be reassessed under human‑rights standards. The communication is part of a series of letters—identified as the 13th, 15th‑16th, etc.—sent from the high‑security ADX Florence facility in Colorado. No response from either the U.S. judiciary or the Mexican government has been reported.

The repeated appeals have drawn renewed media attention to the long‑running legal and diplomatic issues surrounding Guzmán’s incarceration and potential transfer.
