U.S. Customs and Border Protection eliminates routine passport entry stamps

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has announced the cessation of routine passport admission stamps during primary processing for travelers entering the United States. This policy shift is part of a broader modernization initiative aimed at optimizing resources, reducing operating costs, and streamlining arrival times through automation, mobile technology, and biometric facial matching.

While routine stamping is being phased out, physical stamps may still be issued during secondary processing or in limited primary processing circumstances, such as when processing immigrant visas or upon a specific request from a traveler.

Travelers can access their official arrival records, authorized length of stay, and five-year arrival history digitally via the CBP I-94 website or the CBP Link mobile application. Commercial carriers are reminded to maintain accurate data submissions through the Advance Passenger Information System to ensure digital records are correctly populated.
