U.S. Declassified UAP Files Prompt New UFO Sightings Reports

The U.S. Department of Defense and affiliated agencies have released more than 50 previously classified videos and documents on unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP). Among the newly disclosed material is a blurry infrared recording near Columbus, Ohio, analyzed by the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office, as well as Coast Guard footage from April 2024 showing an unknown object approaching an aircraft over the southeastern United States, and a 2020 video of a sphere moving through a populated area. The release also includes historical records, such as a 116‑page report documenting 209 sightings near New Mexico military bases between 1948 and 1950, and a recent account of two luminous spheres that chased fighter jets in 2025.

Separately, the National UFO Reporting Center logged four UAP sightings in Idaho during May 2026, with reports ranging from Coeur d’Alene to Gooding. The Idaho incidents add to a broader wave of public interest sparked by the recent declassification effort, which was part of a transparency initiative announced on May 8, 2026.
