US Defense Secretary Hegseth says major anti‑narcotics announcements from Venezuela imminent

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced during a visit to the US Naval Base in Guantánamo, Cuba that within days the United States expects to reveal significant developments in its anti‑narcotics strategy focused on Venezuela.

He said the effort builds on a coalition of the Americas that includes allies such as Ecuador, Honduras and Paraguay, and involves intelligence and security cooperation to locate drug production sites and trafficking routes. Hegseth noted that Venezuelan authorities are cooperating and that forthcoming announcements will reflect that collaboration.
