US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth Shares Photo of Iran Tower Collapse

U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth posted a photo showing a surveillance tower at Iran’s Chabahar Port engulfed in smoke after a U.S. strike. The image, shared on social media, was described by the National Iranian American Council as “disgusting” revelry over the bombing of Iranian civilian infrastructure.

The strikes, authorized by President Donald Trump, targeted bridges, railways, power facilities and the tower, killing at least eight people and disrupting services for Iran’s 90 million residents. Human Rights Watch cited potential war‑crime concerns, noting the destruction of civilian infrastructure that supplies food, fuel and electricity. Critics, including NIAC and former HRW director Kenneth Roth, warned the attacks could worsen humanitarian conditions and increase pressure on Iran’s leadership to negotiate.
