A former CID (Criminal Investigation Division) officer told the Washington Post, “I have never seen anything like this, with the entire family on an official trip.” Officials noted that protecting additional family members requires extra personnel, transport, and logistical support, which could strain resources already stretched by heightened tensions in the Middle East.
