U.S. Department of Education deletes video comparing Trump to Hitler

The U.S. Department of Education has deleted a social media video posted to X after it inadvertently compared President Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler. The 19-second clip featured a scene from the 2017 film ‘Darkest Hour’ in which Winston Churchill, played by Gary Oldman, states, ‘You cannot reason with a tiger when your head is in its mouth.’

The video then transitioned into a montage of footage featuring Donald Trump, accompanied by the caption ‘No one does it like us’ and a tiger emoji. In the context of the film, the ‘tiger’ Churchill refers to is Hitler, as the character is discussing the refusal to negotiate with Nazi Germany.

Following backlash from users and a Community Note on X clarifying the historical reference, the department removed the post. A spokesperson for the Department of Education stated that a staffer created the clip using a trending TikTok sound but ‘did not understand the context of the video.’
