US Department of Energy allocates $967 million for grid resilience
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has announced approximately $967 million in additional funding through the Grid Resilience State and Tribal Formula Grant program. This investment is designed to assist states, territories, and tribal nations in upgrading electricity infrastructure to improve reliability and accommodate rising electricity demand.
The funding supports locally driven projects aimed at updating critical equipment, reducing the risk of power disruptions, and enhancing overall grid performance. By optimizing electricity systems and deploying new technologies, the program seeks to strengthen energy security and lower long-term power costs for both households and businesses.
This initiative is part of the Trump administration’s “American Energy Dominance” agenda. Energy Secretary Chris Wright stated that the investments aim to lower electricity costs and strengthen grid reliability, while Assistant Secretary Katie Jereza noted that a dependable grid serves as the backbone of American economic prosperity.
