U.S. Department of Energy opens ETIPP applications for community energy projects

The U.S. Department of Energy is accepting applications for the Energy Technology Innovation Partnership Project (ETIPP) through November 18. The program aims to assist coastal, remote, and island communities in developing more affordable, reliable, and secure energy systems by partnering regional organizations with National Laboratory researchers for up to 24 months.

To date, the program has supported 95 community projects across 21 states and territories. In Wiscasset, Maine, the town is utilizing this collaboration to host community engagement events. These include a Strategic Energy Plan Workshop and DECIDE, an interactive simulation developed by Sandia National Laboratories that allows residents to explore energy trade-offs and resilience strategies through municipal decision-making scenarios.
