U.S. Department of Justice seeks to revoke citizenship of 40 individuals
The U.S. Department of Justice has launched a major legal effort to revoke the citizenship of 40 naturalized individuals. According to Attorney General Todd Blanche, this represents “the largest denaturalization effort in modern history.” The actions target individuals accused of concealing serious crimes, committing immigration fraud, or making willful misrepresentations during their naturalization processes.
Among those targeted are several foreign nationals, including two Cuban citizens and one Haitian national. Specific cases include Javier Marrero-Pando, accused of concealing an aggravated sodomy conviction, and Lázaro Eduardo Trujillo Vitón, accused of concealing involvement in a Medicare fraud conspiracy. Additionally, Johyce Martínez, a Venezuelan national, is accused of using a fraudulent Cuban birth certificate to obtain residency under the Cuban Adjustment Act.
The complaints, filed between August and October 2026, involve defendants from a wide range of countries, including Colombia, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Pakistan, India, China, and Canada. The Department of Justice maintains that these individuals are ineligible for citizenship because they “lied their way into US citizenship” to evade legal consequences for criminal activities.
