U.S. Department of Labor recovers $732K for Florida restaurant workers

The U.S. Department of Labor has recovered $732,976 for 31 restaurant workers following a federal investigation into wage practices at Miyako Japanese Buffet in Pompano Beach, Florida. The restaurant is operated by Lucky King LLC.

Investigators from the Wage and Hour Division determined that the company violated the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) by failing to pay required minimum wages for all hours worked and failing to comply with federal overtime requirements. Most employees were paid monthly salaries between $1,000 and $3,000, despite routinely working more than 40 hours per week. The investigation also identified failures in maintaining required payroll and employee records.
