U.S. Department of State confirms visa revocations for security

The U.S. Department of State has confirmed that the administration of President Donald Trump is utilizing legal authority to revoke visas in instances involving potential threats to national security, public safety, or other justified circumstances.

A spokesperson for the Department of State clarified that visas may be revoked at any time if there are indicators of a holder's potential unsuitability or if they pose a threat to public safety. The administration stated it is protecting the nation and its citizens by enforcing high security standards through the visa process.

Reasons cited for such revocations include criminal activity, violation of visa conditions, fraud, and national security concerns. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has characterized an American visa as a “privilege, not a right,” and officials noted he possesses broad discretionary authority to exercise this power whenever there is a compelling U.S. policy interest.

Reports indicate that since Donald Trump's return to the White House, the Department of State has revoked more than 175,000 visas for foreign nationals. While inquiries were made regarding the number of Albanian citizens affected, the Department of State did not provide a specific figure.
