Autistici/Inventati designated as global terrorist by US government

The United States government has designated the Italian-based technology collective Autistici/Inventati as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist. The decision, announced by the Department of the Treasury and the Department of State under the Trump administration, utilizes legal authority from a George W. Bush-era executive order.

U.S. officials allege that the volunteer-run collective provides digital architecture, tools, and services—including encrypted communications, web hosting, and email—that materially assist violent far-left groups and Antifa cells. The government also claims the Kurdistan Workers' Party has utilized the collective's services. The designation triggers immediate sanctions, including the freezing of any assets within U.S. jurisdiction and a ban on U.S. persons engaging in transactions with the group.

Autistici/Inventati has rejected all allegations, stating they provide digital self-defense tools to support free communication for activists. The collective maintains its commitment to its mission and characterizes the sanctions as a politically motivated attempt to suppress dissent. Following the announcement, some services hosted by the collective, such as the NoBlogs platform, experienced service interruptions.
