US destinations offer diverse autumn scenery and activities
Various locations across the United States offer distinct seasonal experiences during the autumn months.
In New Mexico, Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument features cone-shaped rock formations created by volcanic activity and erosion. Co-managed with the Pueblo de Cochiti, the site offers trails such as the Cave Loop Trail and the Canyon Trail, which provides views of the Sangre de Cristo, Jemez, and Sandia ranges. Visitors are noted to require reservations and tribal access passes.
Other notable autumn destinations include Harbor Springs, Michigan, where the Tunnel of Trees provides a scenic drive through colorful foliage along Lake Michigan. In Holderness, New Hampshire, West Rattlesnake Mountain offers panoramic views of Squam Lake, which typically reaches peak color in early October. The area also features the Squam Lakes Natural Science Center for nature education.
