US DHS reports over 10,000 migrant gang arrests in Trump administration
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security announced that federal authorities have arrested more than 10,000 suspected gang members since President Donald Trump began his second term in January 2025. The arrests are part of an immigration‑enforcement effort funded by the Secure America Act, a $70 billion package passed by Congress, and are described by DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin as targeting individuals accused of murder, assault with a deadly weapon, drug trafficking, racketeering, robbery and extortion.
The 10,000th arrest involved Javier Hernandez Rosas, a Mexican national alleged to belong to the MS‑13 organization, with a record that includes cocaine possession, abduction and weapon offenses. Officials said many of those arrested had been released into the United States during the previous administration. DHS also reported an 87 percent decline in illegal immigration compared with October 2024 levels and noted that Customs and Border Protection now employs a record 21,471 agents.
The announcement underscores the Trump administration’s focus on tightening immigration controls and increasing ICE activity.
