US diesel prices face potential surge to $7 per gallon
Diesel prices in the United States are facing significant upward pressure, with analysts warning that costs could reach $7 per gallon in the near future. According to GasBuddy analyst Patrick De Haan, the diesel spot market has seen extreme volatility, signaling potential retail price hikes.
The Midwest is expected to be among the first regions impacted, specifically Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, and Illinois. This surge comes at a critical time for the industrial and agricultural sectors during the harvest season and ahead of the heating season.
Data from AAA indicates the national average for diesel reached $6.23 per gallon on Monday, representing a 68 percent increase compared to the previous year when prices were below $3.70. California has already seen prices exceed the $7 threshold.
