US discretionary budget proposal emphasizes military spending

The proposed U.S. discretionary budget for the upcoming year, as presented by the Trump administration, has passed the House and is awaiting Senate action. The budget allocation shows a significant emphasis on military and security sectors.

Approximately 65.77% of federal discretionary spending is designated for war, with an additional 6.57% allocated to Veterans Affairs. Homeland Security accounts for 2.86%, while the State Department and International Programs receive 1.61%. NASA is allocated 0.85% of the budget.

In contrast, domestic and environmental sectors receive much smaller portions. Education is slated to receive 3.47%, Energy is allocated 2.44%, and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is assigned 0.19%.
