US DOJ accuses Russian intelligence of assassination plot against Ukraine supporters
The US Department of Justice has unsealed an indictment accusing Russian intelligence of orchestrating a global network to assassinate supporters of Ukraine. According to the DOJ, five individuals allegedly worked for Russian intelligence services to carry out attacks and murders worldwide, including within the United States.
The suspects are accused of paying individuals both domestically and abroad to target those perceived to be in alignment with Ukraine. US Attorney Todd Blanche stated that the mission is to prevent adversaries from unleashing violence and terror on American soil.
The indicted individuals include Russians Yuri Khramyov and Kirill Khramyov, Cubans Oemis Romagoza Durruthy and Yaidel Delgado Suarez, and Venezuelan Angel Eduardo Castro. All five face charges of conspiracy to finance terrorism, while Khramyov, Suarez, and Castro face additional charges for conspiracy to commit murder for hire. At least three of the defendants are identified as high-ranking members of the Russian Intelligence Service (RIS) network. The suspects currently remain at large.
