US Dollar approaches resistance following Fed-driven rally
The US Dollar Index (DXY) recently closed near 101.03 following a rally driven by hawkish Federal Reserve expectations and rising US yields. While the index has reclaimed its 55-week EMA, it is approaching technical resistance levels between 101.80 and 102.86. Analysts suggest that clearing these levels may require further extensions in interest rate trends rather than just momentum from recent Fed repricing.
In currency pair outlooks, the GBP/USD is facing resistance at 1.3334, with potential targets for a retest of the 1.3139 low if resistance holds. Conversely, a break above 1.3334 could signal a short-term bottom.
The EUR/GBP pair maintains a neutral to bearish bias. The pair recently failed to sustain levels above 0.8610, which has transitioned from support to resistance. A break below 0.8551 could lead to a retest of the 0.8453 low, while a sustained move above 0.8610 would shift the outlook toward a stronger rally toward 0.8728.
