Latin American markets report shifts in US dollar rates and central bank reserves

Financial markets across Latin America show varied movements in US dollar exchange rates and central bank reserves.

In Argentina, the Central Bank (BCRA) conducted its largest reserve purchase in over two months, acquiring US$291 million. This brings the total accumulated reserves for the year to over US$15,000 million. While the official wholesale dollar saw a slight decrease, the informal ‘blue’ dollar rose, and the country's risk premium fell below 600 points.

Nicaragua has reached a historic milestone as its gross international reserves surpassed US$10 billion for the first time, a significant increase compared to previous years.

In Peru, the dollar experienced fluctuations, with the official SUNAT rate and parallel market rates showing slight differences in buying and selling prices. In Colombia, the representative market rate (TRM) fell below the 3,200 threshold. Meanwhile, in Bolivia, the official exchange rate showed a downward trend, reaching Bs. 11.70.
