US dollar stabilizes near R$ 5.21 amid weak payroll data

The US dollar showed volatility against the Brazilian real, closing near R$ 5.21 on Friday. This stability followed a period of significant appreciation driven by geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and rising oil prices, which saw Brent crude exceed US$ 100 per barrel.

Market participants reacted to a weaker-than-expected US payroll report, which showed only 29,000 jobs created in September, well below the 85,000 median estimate. This data reduced expectations for further interest rate hikes by the Federal Reserve, providing some relief to emerging market currencies like the real.

In Brazil, the Ibovespa rose, supported largely by Petrobras shares amid the surge in oil prices. Investors remain cautious ahead of the upcoming presidential and legislative elections scheduled for Sunday.
