US Dollar nears R$ 5.20 following hawkish Federal Reserve signals

The US dollar rose toward R$ 5.20 against the Brazilian real following hawkish remarks from Federal Reserve President Kevin Warsh at the Jackson Hole symposium. Warsh indicated that the central bank may need to continue aggressive action if inflation does not return to the 2% target clearly and quickly, increasing market bets on potential interest rate hikes in September.

In Brazil, the Ibovespa stock index showed resilience, marking its eighth consecutive session of gains despite the currency volatility. The index closed with a 0.3% increase, contributing to a weekly rise of 2.71%.

In the United States, Wall Street saw mixed results. While the Dow Jones, S&P 500, and Nasdaq experienced slight losses, PayPal shares dropped over 12% following reports that a consortium including Stripe and Advent International abandoned acquisition negotiations. Additionally, semiconductor stocks like Nvidia and Marvell Technology faced downward pressure.
