US Dollar stabilizes near 52 Egyptian pounds across banks

On June 8‑9 2026 the US dollar showed little movement against the Egyptian pound in the country’s banking sector. The exchange rate hovered around 51.7‑52.2 pounds per dollar, with buy and sell quotes varying only marginally between banks. The Central Bank of Egypt listed a buying rate of 51.75 EGP and a selling rate of 51.89 EGP on June 8, while major commercial banks such as the National Bank of Egypt, Banque Misr and the Commercial International Bank posted rates in the narrow band of 51.67‑51.88 EGP for buying and 51.77‑51.98 EGP for selling. The following day, rates remained stable, with the Central Bank quoting 52.09 EGP to buy and 52.23 EGP to sell, and other banks offering similar levels. The consistency indicates a balanced supply‑demand situation in the official foreign‑exchange market.
