US Dollar strength pressures global markets and GPW
Global financial markets are experiencing significant volatility driven by a strengthening US Dollar, which has reached its highest level in 17 months. This surge in the dollar has pressured gold, the euro, and the Polish zloty. While the cryptocurrency market showed resilience following a strong September, other assets faced downward pressure, including oil prices amid hopes for de-escalation in US-Iran tensions.
In Poland, the Warsaw Stock Exchange (GPW) has faced selling pressure, with the WIG sentiment index dropping to 39.2 points, nearing yearly lows. Analysts note a growing divergence between the Polish market and Wall Street; while sentiment for the S&P 500 has improved slightly above the 50-point equilibrium, the Polish market remains cautious. Experts suggest the strong dollar could act as a catalyst for further corrections on the GPW.
