US Embassy aide accused of doctoring cables to mask Israeli actions

Reports indicate that a senior aide to US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee, David Milstein, has allegedly suppressed and doctored embassy cables intended for Washington. These actions were reportedly taken to obscure Israeli actions in the West Bank and Gaza, including illegal settlement expansion, settler violence, and the deaths of Palestinian US citizens.

One specific instance involved a March embassy review concerning the killings of nine Palestinian US citizens by Israeli forces and settlers. Rather than forwarding the findings, which noted a lack of accountability and failed investigations, the aide reportedly pushed for communications that assured lawmakers the cases were being handled properly.

Separately, discussions regarding the Biden administration’s role in the Gaza conflict highlight internal tensions. While some officials have sought to justify the administration's record, critics and former officials point to early warnings regarding the severity of the Israeli military response and the potential for US complicity in humanitarian crises following the October 7 attacks.
