US Embassy Delegation Visits Berane, Montenegro to Discuss Infrastructure and Tourism

Michael Keays, the interim chargé d'affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Montenegro, met with Berane municipal leaders – Mayor Đole Lutovac, Assembly President Vida Ivanović and Deputy Mayor Milosava Paunović – in a session focused on deepening bilateral cooperation. The discussion highlighted priority infrastructure projects, especially the proposed Adriatic‑Ionian highway, which officials said would improve transport links between northern Montenegro and the rest of the country and attract investment. Participants also examined ways to boost Berane’s tourism potential, leverage the region’s natural and cultural assets, and strengthen ties with the diaspora, whose experience and capital could support local development.

The meeting underscored the strategic importance of better connectivity for regional growth and signaled U.S. interest in supporting Montenegro’s economic and infrastructural priorities.
