U.S. Embassy hosts American Fair in Hat Yai to mark 250th anniversary

The U.S. Embassy in Thailand launched the ‘American Fair’ in Hat Yai, Songkhla, marking the first stop of a series of events to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States Declaration of Independence. Held from September 4–6, 2026, the festival aims to strengthen the long-standing friendship and cooperation between the United States and Thailand.

U.S. Ambassador Sean O'Neill presided over the opening ceremony alongside local officials, including Songkhla Deputy Governor Chucheep Thammaphet and Prince of Songkla University President Niwat Kaewpradub. The event features American cultural highlights, including musical performances, street art workshops, cooking demonstrations, and educational activities.

Various U.S. agencies and corporate partners are participating, including the USDA, Fulbright, and EducationUSA, as well as companies such as Harley-Davidson and John Deere. Ambassador O'Neill noted that Thailand is the United States’ oldest friend and partner in Asia, with a relationship spanning 200 years.
