U.S. Embassy in Liberia marks 25th anniversary of 9/11 attacks

The U.S. Embassy in Liberia held a ceremony in Monrovia to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. The event honored the 2,977 victims killed at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Joe Zadrozny led the commemoration, paying tribute to civilians, first responders, and service members. He specifically recognized the bravery of firefighters, police officers, and paramedics who responded to the attacks, as well as the passengers of United Airlines Flight 93.

Zadrozny also highlighted the historical solidarity shown by Liberia following the attacks. He noted that the Liberian government previously declared three days of national mourning and held an intercessory service, including for at least one Liberian victim, reinforcing the enduring partnership between the two nations.
