Moscow Tsaritsyno Museum Reserve threat leads to minor's detention

Russian authorities have detained a minor following a security alert from the United States regarding a credible threat of a mass casualty event at the Tsaritsyno Museum Reserve in Moscow. The U.S. Embassy in Moscow issued the warning on October 31, 2026, advising citizens to avoid the museum and surrounding areas due to the potential for an attack.

The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) confirmed it received intelligence from the U.S. through established cooperation channels. Following the alert, the Tsaritsyno Museum Reserve was temporarily closed and visitors were evacuated.

The FSB reported that the detained teenager, a Russian citizen, had posted videos on TikTok wearing tactical gear, including a balaclava and goggles, while holding an object resembling an automatic weapon. The suspect also reportedly shared photos of the museum with the caption, “I found a place.” A search of the suspect's home uncovered military-style clothing and accessories. Digital forensics revealed searches related to terrorist attacks and mass killings, as well as a subscription to a neo-Nazi Telegram channel.
