U.S. Embassy promotes economic ties at Pakistan policy challenge

The U.S. Embassy Islamabad hosted the inaugural Pakistan-U.S. Alumni Network (PUAN) Economic Policy Challenge, a two-day competition focused on strengthening economic ties between the two nations. The event brought together 70 alumni from Pakistan and six participants from Bangladesh, the Maldives, Nepal, and Sri Lanka.

Expert teams addressed various economic challenges, including strategies to attract U.S. investment, improving Pakistan’s global brand, securing affordable energy, rationalizing the tax system, and strengthening institutional safeguards for foreign investment. Participants presented their findings to a panel of senior stakeholders.

Andy Halus, the Chargé d’Affaires ad interim at the U.S. Embassy Islamabad, noted that bilateral trade between the United States and Pakistan exceeded $10 billion last year. He emphasized the importance of connecting alumni with industry experts and American companies to foster mutually beneficial partnerships.
