US envoy Tom Barrack questions legality of Israeli occupation in Golan Heights

US special envoy for Syria and ambassador to Türkiye, Tom Barrack, has stated that Israel continues to occupy the Golan Heights in violation of United Nations resolutions. These remarks represent a departure from the official US position established in March 2019, when President Donald Trump signed a proclamation recognizing Israeli sovereignty over the territory.

Separately, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian claimed that the international community has accepted Iran’s victory in its conflict with the United States. This comes amid the Trump administration’s announcement of an “unprecedented” economic warfare campaign against Iran, intended to pressure the country regarding its nuclear program and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to maritime traffic.
