Pentagon releases fifth batch of declassified UFO/UAP files
The U.S. Department of War (Pentagon) released a fifth tranche of declassified unidentified aerial phenomenon (UAP) files on 7 August 2026. The batch adds 41 new documents, videos and images spanning from 1950 to 2026 and is hosted on the official portal war.gov/ufo (PURSUE).
Key material includes a video captured by an electro‑optical and infrared sensor over the Middle East in 2025, and six videos from a September 2021 Gulf of Oman live‑fire exercise that recorded about 25 UAP sightings. The release also contains a 2002 report of a silent, triangular object observed by a pilot at Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan, as well as other sightings such as a 2019 Pacific‑Ocean sphere and 2023‑2024 reports of strange lights over the Atlantic. The files draw from the Pentagon, FBI, CIA, State Department and the Executive Office of the President.
The disclosure follows President Donald Trump’s February 2024 executive order directing federal agencies to identify and release UFO‑related records, a process that began with an initial 158‑file batch on 8 May 2026. The new documents include eight FBI Form 302 interview summaries and are part of an ongoing transparency effort.
