US FCC Expands Ban on Chinese Telecom Equipment

The U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) issued a notice on June 26 strengthening its 2022 rules that prohibit the import and sale of telecommunications equipment deemed a national‑security risk. The agency expanded the restriction list to include five major Chinese companies, adding their products to the ban. The order will take effect ten days after its publication in the Federal Register.

The move is part of ongoing U.S. efforts to limit the use of foreign‑made communications gear that could be exploited for surveillance or other security threats.
