US financial calendar: inflation data and banking holidays

The week of October 12 to 16 features several significant financial milestones in the United States. Due to the Columbus Day federal holiday, the Federal Reserve and many banks will be closed on Monday, October 12, which may delay direct deposits and transfers until Tuesday.

On Tuesday, October 13, major financial institutions including JPMorgan Chase, Wells Fargo, Citigroup, and Goldman Sachs are scheduled to release third-quarter earnings reports. On Wednesday, October 14, the Bureau of Labor Statistics will release September inflation data. This figure is critical as it serves as the final data point used to calculate the 2027 Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) for Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI).

Additionally, the Federal Reserve is set to release its Beige Book on Wednesday, providing insights into regional economic conditions. Other notable activities include the start of Medicare open enrollment and IRS extension deadlines.
