US firm accuses Nigerian Presidency of misleading public on court ruling
The US-based political advisory and lobbying firm Von Batten-Montague-York has accused the Nigerian Presidency of providing a misleading account of a United States court ruling involving President Bola Tinubu.
The firm claims that reports shared by Sunday Dare regarding a US court blocking a discovery attempt against Tinubu were a “lie by omission.” While the court did block a request to serve discovery in a case involving alleged hacking by the Nigerian Presidency, the firm argues this is unrelated to a separate Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) case seeking records of Tinubu’s alleged involvement in drug trafficking.
According to the firm, the court ruling included unfavorable findings for the FBI and the DEA. The firm alleges the court denied cross-motions for summary judgment regarding information withholdings and criticized the FBI and DEA for using “boilerplate” and “imprecise” excuses to withhold information concerning Tinubu and an alleged drug trafficking associate named Agbele.
