US, France and Italy seize deepfake porn sites CFAKE.com and SOCFAKE.com under TAKE IT DOWN Act
The U.S. Department of Justice and Homeland Security Investigations seized the CFAKE.com and SOCFAKE.com domains, the first public domain seizure under the 2025 TAKE IT DOWN Act. The operation was coordinated with French National Police and Italy's Polizia di Stato, reflecting a multinational effort to combat non‑consensual AI‑generated nude content.
The seized sites hosted roughly 300,000 images and 7,000 videos depicting about 14,000 identifiable women, including politicians, first ladies, royalty, athletes, journalists and entertainers from multiple countries. Law enforcement also secured around $48,000 in Ethereum and arrested a 47‑year‑old French suspect in Nice.
The TAKE IT DOWN Act criminalizes the non‑consensual publication of intimate digital forgeries, imposing fines and imprisonment. Officials hailed the seizure as a significant step in enforcing the new law and curbing the spread of deepfake pornography worldwide.
