U.S. Gas Prices Near $4 Amid Iran Conflict Fuel Cost Surge

U.S. gasoline prices have risen to $3.94‑$3.98 per gallon, up about 15 cents in a week, and are on track to surpass $4 as diesel climbs above $5 per gallon for the first time in weeks, according to AAA data. The price jump is tied to the renewed U.S.–Iran confrontation, which has pushed global oil markets higher: Brent crude rose 16 % in a week to $88 / bbl and WTI to $82 / bbl, reflecting fears of supply disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz and the loss of refining capacity after attacks on Iranian facilities and Ukrainian strikes on Russian refineries.

In Texas, the average pump price is $3.55 per gallon, up 13 cents from the previous week, with the lowest city rates at $3.42 and the highest in El Paso at $3.95. Similar spikes are reported across other states, and analysts warn the national average could reach $4 soon.

The same geopolitical tension is reverberating internationally: Pakistan expects diesel to rise sharply, Chinese airlines face higher fuel costs, and analysts in Turkey note parallel gasoline‑diesel price dynamics. All these developments underscore how the U.S.–Iran conflict is inflating fuel prices worldwide and pressuring consumers.
