US General Chris Donahue Says NATO Will Defend Every Baltic Centimeter

U.S. Army Europe commander Chris Donahue told a gathering in Valga, Estonia, that the United States will stand with its European allies to defend the Baltic states, adding that NATO’s deterrence is built "not with words from a podium, but with boots in the mud." German defence minister Boris Pistorius echoed the sentiment, saying the establishment of an additional NATO headquarters for Baltic defence demonstrates the alliance’s readiness to protect every centimetre of allied territory. The new command, handed over to a German‑Dutch corps, will oversee forces in Latvia and Estonia, expanding on the existing multinational headquarters based in Szczecin, Poland, which currently coordinates troops across the three Baltic nations and northern Poland.
