US GOP ramps up anti‑socialism campaign ahead of midterm convention

Republican leaders are organizing a two‑day anti‑socialism convention in Dallas, Texas, scheduled for Sept. 9‑10 at the American Airlines Center. The event will feature Vice President J.D. Vance, President Donald Trump, and other administration officials, with video footage targeting Democratic figures portrayed as extreme leftists. Organizers say the convention aims to sway voters by highlighting what they describe as the dangers of socialism.

Concurrently, a new chart from American Enterprise Institute economist Mark J. Perry shows that U.S. goods and services most heavily regulated by the government—such as hospital services, college tuition, childcare, and housing—have risen far faster than inflation since 2000. The data is being used by conservatives to argue that government intervention, not free‑market forces, drives rising costs, reinforcing the GOP’s anti‑socialism messaging ahead of the midterm elections.
