US Government acquires Defense Health Agency HQ for $285M
The United States government has acquired the Defense Health Agency (DHA) headquarters in Falls Church, Northern Virginia, for $285 million. The transaction was executed through the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command, purchasing the 44-acre property from GBA Associates.
The campus consists of three Class B office buildings totaling approximately 686,000 square feet, constructed between 1954 and 1984, along with a separate parcel containing 2,000 parking spaces. The DHA, which has managed healthcare for military and uniformed services since 2011, had previously been under a 15-year lease valued at $370 million.
By transitioning from a lease to ownership, the federal government expects to save several million dollars annually and reduce its overall lease obligations. This acquisition follows other significant federal real estate purchases in the Washington region, including previous acquisitions by the CIA and the Department of Transportation.
