White House airs taxpayer-funded ad featuring Donald Trump
The White House has begun airing a 30-second television advertisement titled ‘Love Me’ that features President Donald Trump and promotes his administration’s policies, including tax cuts and anti-communist messaging. The commercial, which has cost approximately $14,000 in airtime on networks like Fox News and Newsmax, includes a disclaimer stating it was ‘Paid for by the U.S. Government.’
The advertisement has drawn significant criticism from both Democratic and Republican lawmakers. Democratic Representative Jamie Raskin characterized the use of taxpayer funds for the ad as a potential violation of the Hatch Act and an unethical use of government resources for political purposes. Republican Senator Thom Tillis also criticized the use of public money for the spot.
In response, a White House spokesperson defended the commercial as an ‘educational and unapologetically patriotic’ public service announcement intended to promote national pride. Additionally, the musical artist JMSN, whose song ‘Love Me’ is used in the ad, has stated that the administration used his work without permission and is pursuing the matter through legal channels.
