U.S. Government Recovers $21.3 Million from Veteran Contract Fraud

On the National Whistleblower Day, U.S. federal agencies highlighted a major fraud recovery in a case involving the General Services Administration (GSA). Broadway Electric Inc. and Cornerstone Contracting Inc., together with executives John Oehler and Christian Blake, were found to have run a scheme from 2017 to 2025 that exploited small veteran‑disabled businesses as front‑ends for public contracts. The companies received only 1‑3 % of contract values, while the executives retained the majority of the funds. After a False Claims Act lawsuit, the firms agreed to pay $21.3 million to settle the allegations. Two whistleblowers – a former Air Force pilot and a senior defense‑contract executive – received more than $3.67 million in compensation for exposing the fraud. The recovery was presented as a tribute to the importance of citizen integrity in protecting veteran‑focused programs.
